Hand drawn Pen and Ink Romanesque Christmas Card designs

These Christmas cards are based off Romanesque illuminated manuscripts from the court of Charlemagne.  Christ is shown enthroned like a Roman emperor.  He holds a scroll which is symbolic of him being the word of God (John 1).  In raising his right hand to give a blessing, two fingers point up which is symbolic of Christ’s two natures, God and man.  The remaining three fingers are symbolic of the Holy Trinity.  Mary the queen of heaven serves as the seat of Wisdom, who is Christ the logos.  She directs us towards her son.
